Controls against criminal interference in floriculture
A Transport Facilitated Organized Crime (TFOC) check was held at a large parking lot along the N208 in Lisse on Thursday, November 28. The purpose of these checks is to combat criminal interference in the transport and floriculture sectors. The transport industry, and the floriculture sector in particular, is an industry that is very attractive to criminals due to the many (inter)national transport movements.
The police inspected together with the municipality of Lisse, Customs and the Dutch Labor Inspectorate (NLA), among others. Mayor Lies Spruit: “It is nice to see that we stand shoulder to shoulder with so many parties to combat undermining. Such checks are of great value. Our goal is to create an environment in which (organized) crime has no chance. This is how we keep our municipality safe”.
During the inspection, over 60 transport combinations were checked during which conversations were held with the drivers about undermining crime and labor exploitation. In addition, the NLA collected several signals of possible labor exploitation that will be further investigated.
